DO IT LIKE DITA (VON TEESE)!

I'm a huge fan of Dita Von Teese.I love her 40's retro style and the way she manages to look so polished and chic yet sexy at the same time!My last obsession are her Half Moon nails,so with the precious help of my friend Nicole I decided to give them a try this weekend.Truth is I was pretty impressed by the results!Although I'm not very brave when it comes to trying different nail colors and styles and I usually settle for a simple french manicure or the all time classic red nails,I admit that I would definitely try these again and again and again!

Step 1: Make sure your cuticles are trimmed and hands are lotioned.
Step 2: Apply a nude colored nail polish to each nail. Wait about 5 minutes for it to dry. This will be your half moon color.
Step 3: Cut the Reinforcement Stickers in half, setting aside one for each finger.Apply them to each nail carefully as high or low as you would like, making sure the entire sticker is adhered to the nail (otherwise the next coat of polish will bleed onto the other.
Step 4: Apply a coat of Essie Red Label nail polish to each nail.
Step 5: Wait until all nails are dry to peel off the Reinforcement Sticker Halves.
Step 6:Finish with Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat.
Don't forget to finish your look with a simple black dress a wavy vintage ispired hairstyle, black eyeliner and fake eyelashes.Needless to say, that red lips are a must for this look!I used 19-Pure Red color lip last by sephora as I have fallen in love with the matte texture and the fact that it last literally for the whole day!

Good luck!

Bruxelles Plurielle (part 1)

Peplum skirt, silk shirt, jacket, pointed nude shoes and tote bag:All from Zara
Cat eye Sunglasses: Burberry

A few days ago,I took a trip to Brussels and I couldn't be more excited as I was accompanied by two very good friends of mine Chrisa and Katerina! When it comes to Brussels, well, let's just say that I'm not the most objective person to express an opinion on the city as I've spent more than 6 years of my life there and I unconditionally and absolutely love it.Here, enjoy some pictures from the very first day of the trip which luckily and surprisingly was a sunny one,so I had the chance to wear my new peplum skirt. On the other hand,my friend Katerina didn't really share my views on the definition of "a good weather"so she rocked an eco fur jacket, her riding boots and her oh-so-chic Michael Kors Hamilton bag.Diva much, don't you think?
All of the pictures where either shot in the cinquantenaire park or the Botanical garden of Brussels.Enjoy!

"Now,Chanel. You're in desperate need of Chanel"

"Now Chanel. You're in desperate need of Chanel"

Remember the epic walk-in closet transformation scene from "The Devil wears Prada"?That's exactly the way I felt yesterday as I was spending my afternoon in my friend's Nicole closet. Before you start watching this post I vastly encourage you to listen to this song from the soundtrack of "confessions of a shopaholic" at the same time in order to get the "full experience"!
As you can probably tell from the following pictures,I fell deeply, fondly and unconditionally in love with this beige Chanel 2.55 jumbo flap bag.I feel like I could literally carry this bag all day long, sleep with it and take care of it for the rest of my life.I matched the "treasure"with a necklace and a white dress with a flounced skirt both from Zara.Just by holding the right bag,a simple outfit looks like a million dollars!

A woman with nice shoes is never ugly- Coco Chanel
As Coco Chanel used to say "The best things in life are free. The second best are expensive. "
Damn it!-I shall add at the end of the phrase.
Well, now I think I know what you're talking about Rachel Zoe.

SPRING HAS SPRUNG!

Today it was a lovely, sunny day in Athens and I decided to do some shopping downtown. However, instead of just heading immediately to the stores,I decided firstly to take a walk to the National Garden near the parliament. All I have to say is that I'm still wondering why I don't do this more often. The garden is literally an oasis in the noisy city centre of the greek capital.Palm trees, waterfalls, flowers, tutles, peacocks and after just a few minutes, you can tell that you already feel more calm and peaceful.
As it's getting warmer day by day, organizing a picnic in the national garden just made its entry in my  spring to-do list!

ODE TO DIOR

"Much has been written about Fashion, in all its aspects, but I do not think any couturier has ever before attempted to compile a dictionary on the subject".
Don't you just love the feeling of doing something you pretty much hate like cleaning up your bedroom and suddenly finding something you considered lost for months and thinking that all those minutes of your life spent undusting your books were totally worth it?
That's what happened yesterday as I rediscovered my little dictionary of fashion by Christian Dior that I bought a couple of years ago during a school trip in Cologne,Germany.First published in 1954,this handbag-sized classic is an indispensable and timeless guide that covers everything-from what to wear at a wedding and how to tie a scarf to how to walk with grace! All, in the form of a dictionary including delightful vintage photos and sketches by Dior.
Bag:Lady Dior,Dior
Bracelet:Return to Tiffany,heart tag bracelet tiffany.com
Peplum dress:zara
Shoes:zara
The same evening my dear friend Nicole had the kindness to let me incorporate to my outfit of the day (of the night to be more exact) her oh-so-precious Lady Dior handbag that matched perfectly with my new favorite peplum dress from Zara.If you have no idea what a peplum dress is,you don't need to feel ashamed of yourself. You can read my little article on the peplum trend here and become a peplum expert in a minute.Just make sure you like the bright new "chicret" facebook page in order to express how deeply thankful you feel about your new fashion knowledge and stay tuned for more chicret updates.Just kidding.
Kind of.

For the end I left my favorite passage from the book:
"Elegance: This is a word that would need a book to give it its right definition! I will only say now that elegance must be the right combination of distinction, naturalness, care, and simplicity. Outside this, believe me, there is no elegance. Only pretension.
Elegance is not dependent on money. Of the four things I have mentioned above, the most important of all is care. Care in choosing your clothes. Care in wearing them. Care in keeping them."

EMILIO PUCCI VS MARY KATRANTZOU

                                                              image via the pucci-scarf

bisous bisous,
